Great North Run Completed – triumph tinged with sadness

The Fuel Storage Solutions ‘fillies’ team completed the tough course wearing their standout inflatable horse costumes. They certainly cut a dash.

This race – the last of 15 consecutive appearances – was indeed a tough one not least because of the bulky costumes, which got them noticed, but also the unusually high temperatures on the day which presented considerable challenges.

And whilst our ladies were delighted to finish injury free all of us at FSS would like to send condolences to the family and friends of the 2 young men who died on the route.

How immeasurably sad, and it puts into perspective the fact that despite a wonderful day of fundraising, personal achievement and community spirit, such a tragedy should occur.

At the end of the day they all pushed themselves. Cathy Farley and Cheryl Jenkinson were the lovely special ladies running with our own Financial Director Katharine Barnett, aptly named The Crazy Horses – who are all now out at grass and taking a well-earned break.
