Fuel Storage Solutions (“FSS”) has been established for over 23 years by owners and directors Katharine and Jonathan. We provide comprehensive commercial and industrial fuel storage services across the UK, from supply and installation to maintenance and compliance.
FSS is an award-winning family-run business based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. All of our office staff work on-site at our Head Office in Thornton. The Role: Finance Assistant
Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a proactive and organized Finance Assistant to join our close-knit team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid background in administration, purchasing, or accounts who wants to contribute to a growing business and develop their career in a busy, varied finance and purchasing environment.
Based full-time at our Head Office in Bronte Country, Bradford, the role offers a salary of £26,000–£28,000 per annum, dependent on experience, along with a great benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing
- Raise purchase orders to suppliers
- Track and fulfil deliveries to site and Head Office
- Build and maintain supplier relationships
- Reconcile purchase invoices with POs and delivery notes
- Generate weekly reports and parts lists for the scheduling and engineering teams
- Maintain stock levels of parts, PPE, stationery, and consumables
Administration
- Liaise with training providers and venues; complete associated admin
- Support company vehicle admin: tax, insurance, MOTs, servicing, and repairs
- Maintain tooling records and calibration tracking
- Keep supplier documentation up to date in the tracking system
- Provide general administrative support across the office
Finance
- Process staff expenses and company credit card transactions
- Reconcile bank accounts and supplier statements
- Issue client invoices and statements
- Carry out credit control communications and follow-ups
- Maintain finance spreadsheets and support ad-hoc financial analysis
- Provide occasional cover for other finance roles
What we’re looking for:
Essential experience:
- Previous administration experience, ideally in purchasing or accounts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Experience using SAGE software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail across varied duties
- A collaborative approach and team-oriented mindset
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience using SYNERGIST and/or JOBLOGIC (training provided)
- Background in engineering or a technical industry
